The Wounded Astronaut

The Wounded Astronaut Everyone loves the spot where the wounded astronaut Came down onto the earth and kissed a bit of dirt And everyone loves to say, “It’ll be different in a day” You do all that you can and hope you make dry land I’m rolling out again Can’t find that ground, can’t find that ground I’m rolling out again Can’t touch that sound, can’t touch that sound Everyone loves to spot the wounded astronaut Walking ‘round the town his head up in the clouds And everyone loves the fool, especially when it’s you You do all you can and say that it was a plan I’m rolling out again Can’t find that ground, can’t find that ground I’m rolling out again Can’t touch that sound, can’t touch that sound (Title inspired by Kevin Grealey)

Come Off 03:30
Come Off Come on, come off let’s begin To cure the evil that lurks within It’s on the table so let’s begin I’m spinning, I’m dizzy From all these sirens turning ‘round Useless specters that make no sound Coming back from wicked town I’m willing, I’m able Hi, how ya doing? Fine, where you going to? One-foot forward at a time Keep your balance and walk the line No one’s looking you’re doing fine Still breathing, just living Dreaming something once again I want you naked in the skin And when were there doing other things It’s simple, it’s easy Hi, how ya doing? Fine, where you going to? Sometimes clouds just go away Leave me here with better days than these

Everyone Will Shine The day was clear and beautiful But I couldn’t hit a thing The words you whispered in my ears Oh, everything will shine Oh, everything will shine Oh, everything will shine, oh yeah Oh, everything will shine Come on baby tell the truth Have you ever been so down That down looks up and up looks down Oh, you’re missing all the fun Oh, you’re missing all the fun Oh, you’re missing all the fun, oh yeah Oh, you’re missing all the fun “Honey, it’s an easy thing Come on we’ll ride away” White horses running through my head Singing everyone will shine Oh, everyone will shine Oh, everyone will shine Oh, everyone will shine

I Found You 03:34
I Found You You put your fingers on me and try to soothe me out But still I burn A little dust storm fever I’m high up on the hill Yeah still I burn And I hope that it is catching How much you’ll never know And I feel the itch you’re scratching How deep do you go? Well I found you Black and blue they’re painted all in one the same And still I burn I can drive that car across the northern plain And still I burn And I feel your skin a stretching Around again again And it seems that it’s a blessing Ah once more again Well I found you
5.
Fast and True I stared the statues down for days And walked around in a blue haze I watched these four walls closing in But heard the music in the din And then the phone rang Colonel Bob on the other end Said there’s one thing you should do Oh, la la Oh, oh Yeah, yeah I watched the birds fly overhead And felt this far from being dead I watched the sun begin to rise But the stars were still stuck in my eyes And then the message came And the words were very plain You’ve got to make it fast and true Oh, la la Oh, oh Yeah, yeah I know that some say rock is dead But I never heard a word they said Cause my guitar was set on fire As I destroyed my amplifier Then I heard from crazy Tom Said keep those circuits on You’ve got to keep it fast and true Oh, la la Oh, oh Yeah, yeah Oh, la la Oh, oh Yeah, yeah

The Smile 02:40
The Smile Words from “The Smile” by William Blake There is a Smile of Love  And there is a Smile of Deceit  And there is a Smile of Smiles In which these two Smiles meet  And there is a Frown of Hate  And there is a Frown of disdain  And there is a Frown of Frowns Which you strive to forget in vain  For it sticks in the Hearts deep Core  And it sticks in the deep Back bone  And no Smile that ever was smild  But only one Smile alone That betwixt the Cradle & Grave It only once Smild can be  But when it once is Smild  Theres an end to all Misery

about

Anders Parker THE WOUNDED ASTRONAUT

The Wounded Astronaut is a mini album comprised of extra tracks from Tell It To The Dust sessions.

Although built from extra tracks, the quality by no means wanes. The title track starts with a blast of feedback and screeching guitars and continues on its interstellar journey. "Come Off, I Found You," and "Fast and True" are all rocking gut punches, while "Everyone Will Shine" is an abstract acoustic meditation on existence. "The Smile" carries the abbreviated record out into the sunshine.

Album guests include Joan Wasser (Joan as Policewoman), Richard Buckner, Jud Ehrbar (Space Needle, Reservoir).

Random fact: "The Smile" is a William Blake poem that Parker set to music.
